Smoke and Noise Can Be Signs of a Bad Starter

Your vehicle's starter and ignition system are quite literally what gets your car up and running each time you go out for a drive. Over time these parts experience quite a bit of wear and tear and typically will need to be replaced at some point in the lifespan of the vehicle. While there is not a regular timeframe that you should check your starter on, there are some signs that you can look for that may indicate it is beginning to go bad.

The most alarming of these symptoms is smoke. If your car is pulling too many amps when starting the car, it can overheat and burn out the starter motor very quickly. This will produce wisps of smoke and should be addressed immediately.

Loud grinding or whining noises are usually the first signs that your starter is beginning to go bad. If you hear either of these sounds while starting your vehicle it needs to be brought in for service right away.

Our service team at Wynn Volvo Cars Norristown in Norristown, PA can get that new starter or ignition system installed in no time, getting you back on the road and safely on your way.
